Physical therapy can help reduce pain, restore movement, rebuild strength, and improve physical function after a car accident in Columbia. It may also help you return to everyday activities with greater comfort and confidence. Your progress will depend on your injuries and overall health.
During your first appointment, a healthcare provider may check your range of motion, muscle strength, balance, and movement patterns. These checks can help identify areas of discomfort and activities that have become difficult since the accident.
Based on these findings, your provider can develop a treatment plan that considers your injuries, physical abilities, and recovery goals. Your treatment may differ from someone else’s, even if you experienced similar injuries.
Your sessions may include guided stretches, strengthening exercises, hands-on techniques, and controlled movements. These activities can help improve flexibility, support weakened muscles, and make everyday movement more comfortable. Your provider can also show you how to perform exercises safely.
Between appointments, you may receive home exercises, posture recommendations, and advice about activities that could worsen your symptoms. Following these instructions can help you build on your progress while avoiding unnecessary strain.
As your condition improves, an auto injury care provider in Columbia may help you prepare to resume driving, working, lifting, and household tasks. You can gradually return to these activities based on your comfort, strength, and physical abilities.
Regular follow-up appointments also allow your provider to check how your body responds to treatment. Your exercise routine and treatment methods may change as your mobility improves or certain symptoms continue. These adjustments can help support your recovery at a comfortable pace.
