Columbia, MO (August 3, 2026) – An adult woman was hurt on Sunday evening, August 2, after a two-vehicle collision on Chapel Hill Road in southwest Columbia.
The wreck happened near the 3000 block of Chapel Hill Road, just east of Chapel Ridge Road. Boone County Joint Communications sent an alert around 7 p.m. warning drivers to use caution in the area.
Authorities rushed to the scene around 7:20 p.m. and saw a grey Nissan Kicks and a silver Buick Lucerne, both turned into the eastbound lane with crumpled front bumpers. The Nissan's airbags had deployed.
The injured woman was placed in an ambulance and driven from the site. Eastbound traffic remained stalled following the wreck.
Officials continue to actively investigate the incident.
We wish the injured woman a full recovery.
After a car accident in Columbia, it's a good idea to be evaluated within the first 72 hours, even when injuries seem mild at first. Adrenaline and shock can mask pain immediately after a hard impact like the one described here, where airbags deployed on impact. Getting checked early can help identify strains, joint injuries, or nerve issues before they become harder to treat.
When you do see a provider, describe how the collision happened and where your body absorbed the force of impact. This kind of detail helps guide a more accurate evaluation and gives you a clearer record of your symptoms from the start.
Because some injuries take days to fully surface, follow-up visits matter just as much as the initial one. Soreness in the neck or back, headaches, and stiffness can all worsen once the initial adrenaline fades, particularly after a frontal collision.
If you begin noticing pain in your neck, back, or joints in the days that follow, further evaluation may be worthwhile. Numbness, dizziness, and reduced range of motion are also worth mentioning to a provider. An auto injury care provider in Columbia can help track these symptoms and adjust treatment as needed.
