Two People Hit by Car During Downtown Columbia Fight

Columbia, Mo. (September 1, 2026) – Two people were hit by a vehicle during a fight in downtown Columbia early Sunday morning, August 30. One person was taken to the hospital, while another declined medical treatment.

The Columbia Police Department was called to the 100 block of South Seventh Street around 1:15 a.m. after receiving a report that a vehicle had hit a person.

An officer was shown a video of the incident. It reportedly showed a Mercedes-Benz leaving a parking spot before screeching its tires, revving its engine, and driving toward a group of people. The vehicle struck two people before leaving the area. 

Officers later located the Mercedes-Benz, which reportedly had damage to its windshield. Authorities arrested the 21-year-old driver, who was being held in the Boone County Jail.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
