Whiplash symptoms typically take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days to fully show up after a crash, even one that happens at a lower speed. The sudden back-and-forth motion of the neck can strain muscles and ligaments in ways that aren't immediately painful, which is why some people feel fine at the scene and stiffer the next morning.
Common signs to watch for include neck and shoulder stiffness, headaches, and reduced range of motion, along with numbness or tingling that can radiate into the arms in some cases. Because these symptoms build gradually, it's easy to dismiss them as ordinary soreness rather than something tied to the crash.
Getting evaluated early allows a Columbia auto injury care provider to check the neck, spine, and surrounding soft tissue before symptoms have a chance to settle in further. Once these symptoms and injuries are fully identified, a provider can build a plan around chiropractic care, physical therapies, or other non-surgical treatment services that are tailored to how your body responds day to day.
