When Should You See a Doctor After a Car Accident in Columbia, MO?

After a car accident in Columbia, you should be seen within 72 hours, even if you feel okay at first. Adrenaline can mask pain right after a hard impact like the one reported here, where one vehicle's airbags deployed. Getting checked early can help catch injuries before they become harder to treat.

During that first visit, describe exactly how the impact felt and where your body made contact inside the vehicle. Details about airbag deployment, seatbelt position, and the direction of impact can help a provider narrow down which areas need closer attention. This kind of information also creates a clearer record of your recovery from day one.

Because some injuries take days to fully show up, follow-up visits matter as much as the first one. Neck and back pain, headaches, and stiffness can worsen once the initial adrenaline fades, especially after a frontal impact. It can slow the healing process to wait too long before seeking care, which can also make recovery take longer overall.

If you notice new pain in your neck, shoulders, or lower back in the days after a crash, it may be worth a closer look. Dizziness, tingling, or reduced range of motion are also common signs that shouldn't be ignored. An auto injury care provider in Columbia can evaluate these symptoms and track how they change over time.

Letting lingering pain go unaddressed can sometimes allow a smaller injury to turn into a long-term problem. What starts as mild stiffness can, without treatment, develop into chronic discomfort that limits daily movement. To start rehabilitation early gives your body a better chance to heal fully.
