Columbia, MO (July 31, 2026) – A black sedan collided with the side of a large truck on Thursday afternoon, July 30, at the intersection of southbound US-63 and Discovery Parkway.
The wreck happened just before 3 p.m. and left the sedan resting against the median wiring in the center of the highway. Emergency units closed the left lane, backing up traffic in the right lane while crews worked.
Around nine emergency vehicles were on hand near the intersection as crews cleared the highway. A tow truck later pulled the sedan from the median, and all emergency vehicles left by 3:30 p.m.
It is not yet clear the full extent of the injuries, and the exact cause is still being sorted out.
We wish those involved a full recovery.
After a hard collision, it's common for people to walk away feeling fine at first. Adrenaline can mask soreness for hours or even days, which is why a checkup soon after a crash matters even when nothing feels obviously wrong.
Whiplash, joint stiffness, and soft tissue injuries are especially common after a vehicle is struck from the side or forced into a sudden stop, and these injuries don't always show up on the day of the crash. Headaches, reduced range of motion, and lingering back or neck pain can develop over the following days as inflammation sets in.
Getting evaluated early gives a treatment team the chance to catch these changes before they turn into longer-term problems. A course of physical medicine and rehabilitation, tailored to how the body was jolted or twisted during the crash, can help address pain patterns before they become chronic. Non-surgical treatment services are usually a starting point, allowing recovery to be tracked and adjusted as symptoms evolve.
In these cases, a Columbia auto injury care provider that understands how these collisions typically affect the body can help patients feel more confident about what to expect from evaluation through follow-up care.
