Four Injured in Rear-End Crash on US 63 Near Columbia, MO

Columbia, MO (September 28, 2026) – Four people were hurt on Friday evening, September 25, on US 63 south of Forsee Road in Boone County. 

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7:30 p.m. during rainfall. 

A 46-year-old Columbia woman driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was following a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 35-year-old Columbia woman when the Cavalier slowed. The Equinox driver could not stop in time and struck the back of the Cavalier despite steering left in an attempt to avoid the wreck.

The impact sent the Cavalier off the right side of the roadway, where it struck trees before it came to rest. The Cavalier's driver and three children ages 5, 6, and 7 were treated for minor injuries and taken by emergency units to University Hospital.

The Equinox driver was not injured, and her vehicle was driven from the scene. 

Investigators continue to work to determine what led to the accident.
