Two Seriously Hurt After Crash on I-70 in Boone Co., MO
August 14, 2026

Boone County, MO (August 14, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured early Friday morning, August 14, after a single-vehicle crash on I-70.

As reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck happened around 3:08 a.m. when a 59-year-old man from Ohio was driving westbound and left the roadway for an undetermined reason, striking a concrete median barrier.

His 27-year-old passenger, a woman from Texas, was taken to University Hospital with moderate injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to look into what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

We hope both of those hurt are on the road to recovery soon.

What Should You Do After a Car Accident in Columbia, MO?

After a car accident in Columbia, seeking evaluation as soon as possible can make a real difference in how well injuries heal, especially after a high-speed crash. Injuries from a sudden impact with a median barrier can range from whiplash to more serious soft tissue and joint damage that isn't obvious right away.

Once you're seen by a doctor, describing exactly how the crash happened, including which direction the vehicle was traveling and where the impact occurred, can help guide a more accurate evaluation. Details like sudden jolting, bracing against the dashboard, or being thrown against the door can all point to specific areas that may need closer attention.

Because impact-related injuries don't always show up right away, follow-up visits matter just as much as the first one. Pain that starts in the neck, back, or hips can gradually worsen over the days following a crash, particularly after a forceful collision with a stationary object like a median barrier.

If stiffness, numbness, or reduced mobility develops in the days after a crash, further evaluation may be worthwhile before those symptoms settle into something longer-lasting. An auto injury care provider in Columbia can help track these changes and adjust care as recovery progresses, rather than letting mild discomfort turn into a chronic issue.
